Chief Executive Officer

Tom Donahue is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of True North Companies, where he leads corporate strategy, capital markets initiatives, and the firm’s long-term investment direction. A seasoned real estate entrepreneur, Mr. Donahue has built and scaled multiple platforms with a focus on institutional-grade real estate investment and alumni-driven private capital.

At age 30, Mr. Donahue founded AzCal, a commercial real estate brokerage that grew into International Capital Partners, a global private equity firm. Under his leadership, the company raised capital from institutional and private investors around the world to support U.S.-based acquisitions and development projects, managing more than 10 million square feet of real estate. In partnership with Deloitte & Touche in Edinburgh, he developed the first platform to enable on-shore UK capital investment in U.S. real estate assets.

Mr. Donahue began his career at TOLD Real Estate Development Co. and later joined the brokerage division of Grubb & Ellis, where he was part of a top-performing team focused on office leasing and investment sales.

A graduate of the University of Southern California, Mr. Donahue earned his B.S. in Real Estate Finance. While at USC, he served as President of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and played two years of collegiate baseball, deepening his connection to the university community.

Chief Financial Officer

R. Michael Preyss serves as Chief Financial Officer of True North Real Estate Wealth Management, where he leads the firm’s financial strategy, reporting, human resources, and technology infrastructure. He brings a broad background in financial management and operational leadership across both private sector and mission-driven organizations.

Mr. Preyss is an active member of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), where he previously served as President of the Central Indiana Chapter. He currently contributes to CFMA’s national Next Generation Task Force, focused on cultivating the organization’s future leadership.

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Preyss holds dual bachelor’s degrees from the University of Georgia, a Master’s degree from Purdue University’s Krannert Graduate School of Management, and a Master of Health Administration from the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Director of Acquisitions

Connor Donahue serves as Director of Acquisitions at True North Real Estate Wealth Management, where he leads the firm’s investment sourcing and acquisition efforts. Prior to joining True North, Mr. Donahue was with Kentwood Commercial, specializing in landlord representation, tenant and occupier services, and investment sales. His work involved structuring real estate solutions including leasing, subleasing, renewals, relocations, consolidations, expansions, and build-to-suit projects.

Before Kentwood Commercial, Mr. Donahue held leasing and sales roles with NAI Shames Makovsky and Coldwell Banker Commercial Advisors, focusing primarily on Denver’s Central Business District and surrounding areas.

Mr. Donahue earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications and Advertising from the University of Colorado. Originally from Montana, he is an avid outdoorsman with interests in fly-fishing, skiing, and golf, balancing his professional expertise with a passion for the outdoors.

Director of Finance

Luis Flores serves as Director of Finance at True North Real Estate Wealth Management, where he oversees financial planning and analysis to support the firm’s investment strategies. Prior to joining True North, Mr. Flores spent three years at Goldman Sachs in the External Investing Group, specializing in Private Equity and Hedge Fund investments.

Mr. Flores holds a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Utah, and dual undergraduate degrees in Finance and Economics from New Mexico State University. A former Division I tennis player, he competed collegiately at both New Mexico State University and the University of Utah, demonstrating the discipline and competitive drive that inform his professional approach.

Outside of work, Mr. Flores enjoys an active lifestyle that includes tennis, golf, mountain biking, and skiing. He resides with his wife and their dog.

Director of Asset Management

Garrett Fugier is the Director of Asset Management at True North Real Estate Wealth Management, where he leads the firm’s efforts to enhance operational performance and long-term value across a national portfolio of real estate investments.

Mr. Fugier brings more than a decade of experience across institutional and private equity real estate platforms. Prior to joining True North, he served as Development Manager at Confluent Development, where he focused on sourcing and executing retail and multifamily development projects. He previously held asset management and capital markets roles at Shames Makovsky, where he oversaw underwriting, acquisitions, mezzanine lending, and financial reporting.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Fugier worked as a commercial broker representing office tenants and investment sales clients. He also served as a financial analyst at both Amstar Group and The Broe Group, where he supported value-add acquisition strategies across a range of property types and markets.

Mr. Fugier holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Real Estate from Colorado State University and an M.S. in Real Estate Development from Georgetown University.
